Power of Visualization: Three Visualizing and Verbalizing Techniques to Generate Success

I used to think that the "power of visualization" was some sort of hocus pocus pie in the sky. Then I began to see real people around me using this power to achieve their dreams. Being the incredulous sort that I am, I was determined to find more evidence of this strange power.
So what evidence of the power of visualization is there?
Let's begin with a study done with basketball players a few years back. A team of professional basketball players were divided into three groups, after having taken their control group performance results. Group one was asked to continue practicing in the traditional manner on the court. Group two was asked to not practice at all, and the third group was told to only practice in their minds by using only visualization techniques.
Group one's performance increased by 2%, as might have been expected. Group two's performance declined by 2%, and you may have guessed. You know what they say, "practice makes perfect". But what about group 3? Amazingly, these guys had a performance increase by 3½%, without ever stepping foot on the court!
So this beckons the question... "why?" Is it truly the power of visualization that's breed success?
So it turns out through this study and countless others, the mind actually can't tell whether you're practicing in your mind or in your body. Obviously, we're not all interested in basketball. But suppose this idea of using positive visualization can be used in whatever goal you wish to attain?
I recently heard of another incident where a man was able to teach himself to write with his left hand by using these subconscious mind exercises simply by using the his "power of visualization". He practiced writing his left hand, and then spent some time each day visualizing himself writing easily and quickly with his left hand. It was not long before he was able to write as well with this left hand as his right.
Naturally, the "why power" has to be strong. You might try this yourself and be unsuccessful because you really don't care if you learn to write with your left hand or not.
But what if achieving your dream and all your desires is possible once you put your heart and soul behind the power of visualization?
I just love the following quote...
"Let us live our lives as if all of our dreams have come true,
and then challenge reality to catch up."
I have actually seen for myself how taking the above quote to heart can truly bring success and happiness into one's life. (More on this below.)
Formula to use the power of visualization in your life...
1) Believe you can...
This sometimes is easier said than done. You can tell yourself till you're blue in the face that you'll be making $10,000 a month within three months, but if that little voice in the back of your head says "who are you kidding", then you'll be getting nowhere.
Psychologists call this cognitive dissonance, where your subconscious mind will hold you back from what your conscious mind desires. So if this is you, the way to get past this is to continually read and listen to personal development audios. Eventually, you will find yourself speaking in a different way.
And speaking is a physiological attribute that can actually "trick your brain" into thinking and believing differently. Similar to affirmations, incantations, the act of repeating what you want to believe over and over with positive emotion, can actually trick your brain to believe what you want.
Another trick is to use a 'primary question' to continue to ask yourself. You'll find that your brain will always look for a way to answer what you ask of it.
Example:
You: "Why do bad things always happen to me?" Brain: "Because you're a screw-up!"
OR
"How can I appreciate even more all the love and guidance within me?"
Conversely, this will enable your brain become aware of things that are going well, which, through the law of attraction, will attract more things to go well in your life.
2) Visualizing...
Spend at least ten minutes each day using the power of visualization by visualizing you having achieved your goal. Feel the emotion of what it feels like. Pay attention in these subconscious mind exercises to the sounds, smells and feelings around you. Where are you sitting? What evidence to you see that reveals your achievement? What sounds around you do you hear? How does this make you feel?
Turn up the "brightness knob" on your visualization and imagine the picture in your mind becoming brighter and more vivid. The more you practice this, the better you'll get at it.
3) Verbalizing...
Spend at least ten minutes a day using incantations by asking yourself over and over your primary question that will stimulate your brain to believe, thereby generating a mindset shift.
Over time, the use of the above visualizing and verbalizing techniques, combined with reading and listening to personal development audio daily, will enable you to blaze your own trail of success.
